Die Zukunft der Biodiversität: Internationale Naturschutzstrategien im Vergleich
The Future of Biodiversity: Comparing international Conservation Straegies
Man-made climate and biodiversity change are often seen as two different crises. No doubt, both crises have their specifics, but for the sake of sustainability it is essential to treat them integrally: Saving the climate is a precondition to biodiversity. And nature-based approaches like the protection of forests, oceans, wetlands and soils is essential for saving the climate. In this seminar we analyze different nature conservation strategies, including nature reserves, rewilding, nature capital, convivialism and community-based approaches. The target of the seminar is to assess and evaluate the various strategies with a special emphasis on their capacity to contribute to sustainable development and to integrate climate and biodiversity protection.
