"Die andere Stimme": feministische Ethik und weibliche Moral
“The other voice”: feminist ethics and female morality
Do women act morally differently to men? This question has been examined since the 1980s by feminist representatives such as Carol Gilligan under the term “care ethics”. “Care” is understood as the practice of caring and the affective feeling of concern for others, in both private and professional contexts. However, in the academic discussions of recent decades, care and the associated moral sensibilities have tended to be assigned to the female gender and thus to a “female morality”. Therefore, in this seminar we want to deal with the introductory question and examine how this discourse came about in the first place, what constitutes female morality and to what extent gender plays a role in it. Finally, we will transfer our findings to the present and use them as a basis for analyzing and discussing current feminist issues.
