The Politics of Resources in Times of Green Transition
The aim of the seminar is to deal with raw materials policy in a comprehensive sense. We begin with an inventory, which is essentially based on the elaborations of the International Resource Panel. In the global, European and national context, the question is which fossil, mineral and biogenic, renewable and non-renewable raw materials our society and our economy depend on. A focus will be placed on international raw material flows and the international exchange of goods, while also asking why the countries of the global south are now so strongly committed to the role of raw material suppliers for the global north and whether these asymmetrical relationships can be changed. In addition to the current raw material needs and international exchange relationships, the focus should be primarily on what needs for rare and critical raw materials will arise in the future as a result of the social-ecological transformation. Conflicts of objectives are also addressed here. It is planned to conduct an excursion as part of the seminar.
Prof. Dr. Reinhard Loske
Reinhard Loske, Jahrgang 1959, ist diplomierter und promovierter Volkswirt sowie habilitierter Politikwissenschaftler. Er hat zahlreiche berufliche Erfahrungen gesammelt, u.a. als Forscher am Wuppertal Institut für Klima, Umwelt, Energie (1992 bis 1998), als Universitätsprofessor für Nchhaltigkeit und Transformationsdynamik an der Universität Witten Herdecke (2013-2019) sowie als Präsident der Cusanus Hochschule für Gesellschaftsgestaltung in Koblenz (2019-2021). Von 1998 bis 2007 war er Mitglied des Deutschen Bundestages und u.a. stv. Fraktionsvorsitzender von Bündnis 90/Die Grünen, von 2007 bis 2011 Senator für Umwelt, Bau, Verkehr und Europa der Freien Hansestadt Bremen. Reinhard Loske, der Autor zahlreicher Bücher zur Klimapolitik, zur Nachhaltigkeit und zur ökologischen Ökonomie ist, ist heute u.a. Mitglied im Vorstand der Stockholmer Right Livelihood Foundation und des Berliner Instituts für ökologische Wirtschaftsforschung. Näheres unter www.loske.de
