From Polarization to Critical Discourse: An Interdisciplinary Think Tank
In times of growing social polarisation, how can we engage in meaningful conversations again? The Interdisciplinary Thinking Workshop brings together students from a variety of disciplines and universities, particularly those from fields such as business, health, policing, social work and public administration, to participate in constructive discussions on controversial topics. The workshop focuses on open dialogue about socially relevant issues such as freedom of speech, cancel culture, justice, gender roles and the challenges of artificial intelligence. Rather than seeking to win debates, the focus is on understanding different viewpoints, reflecting on one’s own assumptions and opening up new spaces for thought and dialogue. Methodologically, the workshop employs interactive formats such as the World Café approach, triad conversations and plenary reflections. These approaches encourage eye-to-eye encounters, promote multi-perspective thinking, and stimulate self-reflection.
