Exposing Right-Wing Populism – Strengthening Social Cohesion
Right-wing populist movements and parties have been gaining influence in Europe and around the world for several years. They exploit fears, use simplistic narratives, and thereby undermine democratic discourse and institutions. Their rise is fueled by a deeply felt social divide. This leads to a growing need for orientation, belonging, and control. The seminar "Exposing Right-Wing Populism – Strengthening Social Cohesion" addresses these challenges from an interdisciplinary perspective and brings together academics, educators, and cultural professionals in dialogue. The aim is to understand the mechanisms of populist rhetoric and authoritarian mentalities – and at the same time to explore ways of strengthening democratic practice, empathy, and social cohesion.
