The group dynamics training group offers the opportunity to experience, observe, and reflect on the development of the social system "group" in all stages of a group process, i.e., from the formation to the dissolution of a group. This process gives participants the chance to experience themselves in their role in the individual phases of this development and to get to know their own effects on others in specific learning settings. The seminar is based on the principle of self-awareness and opens up a variety of opportunities to observe the dynamics of interaction systems and to analyze the coupling of psychological and communicative processes, including one's own person. This provides opportunities to try out and experiment with one's own behavior in different situations.

Objectives & Competences

Based on practical experience in the group dynamics training group, the course teaches the theory of group dynamics, in particular the classic dependency theory of the group, the group dynamics space, the systemic theory of group dynamics, and the systemic theory of leadership functions in companies (organisations and teams). In addition, practical experience is discussed on the basis of the concept of psychological safety.

Important: This course requires participation in the Group Dynamic Practice – Group Dynamic Training Group, which is offered every summer semester as a Stufu course. The course cannot be taken without this practical experience. Those who have already completed the group dynamics training group can participate.

Objective: Theoretical reflection on group dynamic self-awareness – Reflection on leadership theories and competences – Reflection on one's own social competences in groups

Focal points: Understanding group processes, leading, analysing, and reflecting on groups and designing systemic interventions to stimulate groups.

Important competences: self and social competence, analysis of social and systemic processes, group leadership and group integration.
