The online course 'Sustainable Development: Basics and Implementation' introduces the concept of sustainable development, discussing the theoretical foundations of weak and strong sustainability, and the three sustainability dimensions from an economic perspective. Building on this foundation, the course then addresses questions about the importance of innovations, technical progress and eco-efficiency.

Various concepts for measuring and evaluating sustainable development are presented to illustrate the different quantification possibilities. The implementation of sustainability strategies at national and regional levels is also demonstrated. The integrated sustainability triangle is developed and applied to combine the three sustainability dimensions of ecology, the economy and social issues in a systematic way. The interplay between theory and practical examples provides a coherent overview of the concept of sustainable development.

Kathrin Brommer

Mein Name ist Kathrin Brommer. Nach nunmehr sieben Jahren als Koordinatorin der FreiwilligenAgentur Witten, bin ich seit März 2022 als Referentin für Service Learning und Gesellschaftliches Engagement im WittenLab.Zukunftslabor Studium Fundamentale der Universität Witten/Herdecke tätig. Mir liegt sehr daran,
