This is a hands-on seminar that takes place outdoors. Participants will be actively involved in practical gardening and landscape maintenance on the university's campus garden.

During the winter semester, the range of activities is somewhat more limited and includes planting, pruning, mulching, designing and maintaining garden areas, as well as various tasks in the fruit tree avenue between the meadow areas under the guidance of the local nature conservation group in Witten.

The seminar also includes a theoretical component, consisting of short introductory presentations, student reports, and on-site explanations related to the practical work being carried out.

An important aspect of the course is its social dimension. By working together in a shared practical setting, students from different faculties and semesters have the opportunity to get to know one another, exchange ideas, and engage in conversation across disciplinary and cohort boundaries.
