Free Music Improvisation – Jazz in the Expanded Sense
The Musicclub is an integral part of musical life at Witten/Herdecke University.
Under the direction of Ludger Schmidt, the focus this semester is on the development of musical creativity. Jazz is the starting point here, but is defined in all its diversity: Traditional jazz, jazz-rock and also free music are used in this seminar as a vehicle to recognize and develop one's own creativity.
It is up to the participants to explore where the journey takes them.
In this seminar, it is certainly possible to open up to other cultural disciplines: Development of music in connection with texts and images. The interdisciplinary character should be the basis of culture and this in turn is congruent with the mission statement of this university.
In this seminar we will create music, develop dramaturgical models together and ultimately present them to an audience. Music from the impulsive moment; Music, as a prepared idea; Music, as a shared moment; Music, in connection with other artistic disciplines.
