Jahr 2: Medizinethisches Seminar incl. Besuch der Gedenkstätte Hadamar (ehem. T4-Tötungsanstalt)
Im Mittelpunkt des 2. Jahres zum Thema „Die Freigabe der Vernichtung lebensunwerten Lebens. Das negierte Lebensrecht des Anders-Seienden“ steht die Exkursion zur Gedenkstätte Hadamar. Das 2. Jahr beginnt mit dem Besuch des öffentlichen Präsentations- und Diskurstages des 1. Jahres. Die Exkursion wird inhaltlich vor- und nachbereitet (s. Termine); hierzu gehört Eigenstudium und Kleingruppenarbeit in der thematischen Auseinandersetzung. Neben Literaturstudium kommt reflektierendem Schreiben anhand von spezifischen Fragestellungen eine besondere Bedeutung zu. Hierbei wird uns die international renommierte US-Psychologin und Expertin Hedy S. Wald, PhD, begleiten. Reflective Writing ist eine Methode, die zur professionellen Persönlichkeitsentwicklung beiträgt.
Nach den Exkursions-Tagen erfolgt eine Vertiefung eines frei gewählten Themas in Eigen- oder Kleingruppenarbeit. Zusammenfassungen der Beiträge der Dozenten, Eindrücke von der Exkursion sowie Eigenarbeiten werden durch die Teilnehmer*innen in einer Broschüre veröffentlicht, und die Ergebnisse der Eigenarbeits werden öffentlich der interessierten Bevölkerung an einem selbst gestalteten Tag (s. Termine) präsentiert.

Part of the multi-year curriculum „Cultivating Medical awareness and ethics using the example of Medicine in National Socialism“, with medical ethics seminar excursions to memorials of persecution and extermination under National Socialism.

The National Socialists systematically persecuted, imprisoned and murdered people for political, social and racial reasons (including the Holocaust). It is less known that they first systematically selected mentally ill people under the aspect of „life unworthy of life“ and granted them „mercy death“ in specially established killing institutions. We will deal with questions about the development of euthanasia thinking, its social reception and the logistics set up for the extermination of more than 200,000 sick people. The focus is on the three-day excursion to the Hadamar memorial site (including the former T4 killing facility). Furthermore, we want to investigate questions about the current time reference with regard to discrimination and dehumanization in the health care system.
The excursion will be prepared and followed up in terms of content; this includes self-study of literature and small group work, reflective writing as well as a visit to the presentation and discourse day of the previous year of the curriculum (excursion Buchenwald).
The excursion will be followed by an in-depth study of a freely chosen topic in individual or small group work. Summaries of the lecturers‘ contributions, impressions of the excursion as well as the participants‘ own work will be published in a brochure, and the results of the participants‘ own work will be publicly presented to the interested population in Witten on a self-designed day.

Die Exkursion wird inhaltlich von verschiedenen Dozierenden vor- und nachbereitet; hierzu gehören Eigenstudium von Literatur und Kleingruppenarbeit, reflektierendes Schreiben sowie der Besuch des Präsentations- und Diskurstages des vorangehenden Jahres des Curriculum (Exkursion Buchenwald).
