In unserem Kurs werden wir das Konzept der 10 Biotope von theoretischer und praktischer Seite her kennenlernen. Je nach Interesse und aktueller Situation kann bei der Pflege eines Geländes im Umfeld der Uni, das nach dem Konzept der 10 Biotope angelegt wurde, mitgearbeitet werden.
10 Biotopes for the Diversity of the Cultural Landscape
The greatest botanical diversity in Central Europe can be found in 10 biotopes – and these are not forest or wilderness biotopes, but biotopes of the cultural landscape. This means they are dependent on humans and their sustainable management, which calls into question the widespread narrative that humans are generally the greatest destroyers of nature. In the future, it will be about designing the economy and landscape planning so that food production and biodiversity go hand in hand. The 10 biotope concept, which was published in 2020 by a working group led by Christoph Vahle, provides the basis for this.
In our course we will get to know the concept of the 10 biotopes from a theoretical and practical perspective. Depending on your interest and current situation, you can help maintain a site in the area surrounding the university that was created according to the concept of 10 biotopes.
What do I need to know to participate?
Participants‘ contributions to ecological and systemic health issues can be included, but are not a requirement.
For practical outdoor work, appropriate clothing (possibly rubber boots, clothing suitable for gardening) and the willingness to work on plants and soil are advisable.
How will we learn?
In the course, an individual dynamic will develop from the following contributions:
– Presented specialist knowledge from biology, botany, soil science (presentation in Powerpoint, discussion rounds)
– Practical work in the field
– The interests and contributions of the participants, including study-specific overlapping points

Marian Roßlenbroich
Als Freiberuflicher Biologe und Unternehmer arbeite ich in verschiedenen ökologischen Projekten. Hierzu gehören Vegetationskartierungen vor dem Bau von Stromleitungstrassen, Planung und Durchführung von Biotopkonzepten im landwirtschaftlichen und Städtischen Bereich sowie kleinere Tätigkeiten in der Umweltbildung im Bereich Pflanzensoziologie und Bodenkunde. Mich interessiert das Zusammenspiel aus Pflege der Natur und unternehmerischen Perspektiven, da hier meines Erachtens die größten Herausforderungen und Lösungsmöglichkeiten vieler aktueller gesellschaftlicher Fragen liegen. Vor diesem Hintergrund bin ich auch ein Stück weit in der Startup- Szene unterwegs.
Was muss ich mitbringen?
Beiträge zu ökologischen und systemisch- gesundheitlichen Themen der Teilnehmenden können einbezogen werden, sind aber nicht Voraussetzung.
Für praktische Arbeiten im Freien sind entsprechende Kleidung (Eventuell Gummistiefel, gartentaugliche Kleidung) sowie die Bereitschaft für Arbeiten an Pflanzen und Boden sinnvoll.
Wie werden wir lernen?
Im Kurs wird sich eine individuelle Dynamik entwickeln aus den Bausteinen:
- Vorgestelltes Fachwissen aus Biologie, Botanik, Bodenkunde (Präsentation in Powerpoint, Diskussionsrunden)
- Praktische Arbeit im Gelände
- Eingebrachte Interessen und Beiträge der Teilnehmenden mit Einbezug studienspezifischer Überschneidungspunkte
Ziel der Veranstaltung
- Fähigkeit unterschiedliche Perspektiven einzunehmen: Lokal und global, theoretisch und praktisch, wirtschaftlich, gesundheitlich und ökologisch
- Komplexität und auftretende Widersprüche als Potentiale sehen
