Curating refers to the targeted handling of objects, images, videos and content by selecting, evaluating, thoughtfully combining and meaningfully presenting them. The activity requires judgement and the ability to communicate individual perspectives. In the seminar, this is explored using artistic videos that are accessible via specialised digital platforms. To do this, the historical development and specifics of this art form are conveyed, as well as the basics of curatorial practice. Participants learn to view videos analytically and engage with the narratives and aesthetic strategies of moving images. A visit to an exhibition on audiovisual art is planned. The focus of the seminar is for participants collaboratively developing a project topic, researching relevant artistic videos and using them to jointly design a pop-up exhibition at the end of the semester.

•  Attendance on July 16 is mandatory due to the joint public closing event (pop-up exhibition).
