Photographic Ethnography
In this seminar, participants will learn to explore their living space in Witten and the surrounding area with a camera and to capture it with their view through the lens. The interaction careates the participants' own individual urban identity with their living environment.
At the beginning of the seminar, the basics of photography are taught; theory should only take up a limited amount of space and should concentrate on providing help and suggestions for image composition and design. Building on the discussion about what is worth seeing in our living environment, two photo excursions will be carried out in Witten. Two photo reviews will take place with the photographs taken during the excursions. For this purpose, the participants bring 20-24 printed pictures in the 10x15cm format with them to the respective dates of the event.Depending on the possibility, a selection of the photographs will be exhibited at the Uni WH
The participants bear costs for the development of the photographs i.H.v. about 10-12 euros too.

Seit Mitte der 80’er Jahre beschäftige ich mich mit der Fotografie. Ausgerüstet mit einer analogen Kamera begann eine Leidenschaft, die bis heute ungebrochen anhält. Die Fotografie setze ich als künstlerisches Ausdrucksmittel ein, dieses gibt mir die Möglichkeit das gesehene als Ausdruck meiner Wahrnehmung wiederzugeben. Mein fotografischer Schwerpunkt liegt in der abstrahierend expressionistischen Fotografie. Seit 2016 bin ich als freiberuflicher Fotokünstler aktiv und konnte im Rahmen von zahlreichen Ausstellungen meine Arbeiten der Öffentlichkeit präsentieren.
Objectives & Competences
The participants are instructed to explore and discover their own living space with the camera and to express their own environment photographically. Basic knowledge of how to use your own camera as well as the basics of image design are taught.
