Thinking Socially, Acting Creatively - handicrafts connect people
This project takes place at the nouranour workshop in the city center of Witten. Signal of Solidarity e. V. – nouranour is a project dedicated to intercultural exchange, hands-on learning, and the promotion of integration and environmental awareness through shared activities. Students work together with participants from diverse cultural backgrounds on creative and craft-based projects related to textiles, fashion, and sustainability. The focus is on encounters on equal footing, learning through practice, and mutual knowledge exchange between the students and the nouranour participants. Language develops naturally in everyday interaction—through collaboration, conversation, and shared interests.
By the end of the project, students will have sewn two to four textile items (e.g., a laptop sleeve, fabric bag, pencil case, or reusable beeswax food wrap) with guidance and support. In addition, reflection sessions address topics such as sustainability, the fashion industry, and intercultural exchange.
Karla Paz
Mein Name ist Karla Paz. Ich bin ausgebildete Handarbeitslehrerin und arbeite sehr gerne mit Menschen. Sprache war für mich in den ersten Jahren eine große Herausforderung, weshalb es mir besonders am Herzen liegt, meine Erfahrungen und Kenntnisse mit anderen Frauen mit Migrationsgeschichte zu teilen.
Ich arbeite bei nouranour in der Ruhrstraße in Witten, wo ich derzeit eine Gruppe von 16 Frauen begleite, die an einer Maßnahme teilnehmen. Gemeinsam beschäftigen wir uns mit Stoffen, Schnittmustern und der Frage, wie Sprache durch Zusammensein, gemeinsames Arbeiten und Austausch wachsen kann.
Lilian Andreae Galarza
Lilia Andreae Galarza ist die Gründerin von nouranour in Witten, einer Lern- und Nähwerkstatt für Frauen mit Flucht- und Migrationserfahrung. nouranour unterstützt die Teilnehmerinnen durch qualifizierende Textilarbeit, stärkt ihre gesellschaftliche Teilhabe und hilft ihnen auf dem Weg zur ökonomischen Unabhängigkeit. Die Schnittstelle zwischen Gesellschaft und Wirtschaft liegt ihr dabei besonders am Herzen. Dieses Ziel verfolgt das Projekt, indem es lokal und deutschlandweit Kleidungsreparaturen anbietet und Upcycling Projekte für verschiedene Organisationen durchführt.
