Agriculture, Medicine and Education
Healthy people need a healthy earth. Together with the Demeter Association NRW and many top-class guest lecturers we will explore the contribution of biodynamic agriculture to an understanding of the earth as an organism through theoretical work and excursions in the surrounding area. The close connection between healing for people and healing the earth will be examined.
Dr. Silke Schwarz
Dr. med. Silke Alma Schwarz, geboren 1971, studierte Kunsttherapie, Förderpädagogik und Medizin an der Universität Witten/Herdecke. Sie lehrt an vielen Institutionen, u.a. an der Universität Witten/Herdecke und forscht gemeinsam mit David Martin zum Thema "Zukunft der Kindheit". Sie leitet die medizinisch-pädagogische Beratungsstelle Kindgerecht, ist Kindergarten-und Schulärztin und Leiterin des Seminars: Kindheit gut begleiten. Gemeinsam mit David Martin gestaltet sie diesen Kurs mit hochkarätigen Dozent*innen, um die elementar wichtigen Fragen nach der gemeinsamen Zukunft von Erde & Mensch im Sinne eines "One Health" Ansatzes zu stellen.
Prof. Dr. David Martin
David Martin, geboren 1973 in den USA, aufgewachsen in den USA, Frankreich und England. Als Facharzt für Kinder- und Jugendmedizin und pädiatrischer Endokrinologe, Diabetologe, Hämatologe und Onkologe ist er Inhaber des Gerhard Kienle Lehrstuhls für Medizintheorie, Integrative und Anthroposophische Medizin an der Universität Witten/Herdecke www.uni-wh.de/gkls. Dort leitet er auch das Institut für Integrative Medizin www.uni-wh.de/ifim und ist Ko-Leiter des Forschung- und Lehrzentrums Herdecke.
Objectives & Competences
Goal: After the course, students will have a profound knowledge of the background to biodynamic agriculture. They will be familiar with examples of the connection between earth health and human health and will be able to contribute to the social discourse on the topic of “One Health”.
