Presence and Performance
In this course we will explore how to increase social awareness through embodiment. Embodiment is the process of connecting with your physical sensations, emotions, and thoughts and expressing them with your body. Using this process, we will investigate personal and social themes through movement. How can we use the ripple effect of our daily actions to better connect with ourselves and others? Through games and tasks, we will explore how we live within our social environment.
We will develop these themes through choreographic principles, learning to creatively shape our movements in time and space. Guided by the Alexander Technique, you will learn body awareness, presence, natural alignment, and freedom of movement.
Our work will result in a performance connecting presence, creativity and expression.
No previous movement experience is required.
