Art and sustainability – The school of good taste
The experimental workshop in co-production with "Studio Instabil" in the "Gärten der Gemeinschaft" at the UW/H explores the social relevance of artistic concepts and initiatives around the topic of sustainability. The following aspects of social and cultural urban development stand center stage:
How can we artistically connect with nature, landscape, soil, and urban agriculture?
How can the artistic perspective help to tackle the globally pressing questions and help others to think, act and produce more sustainably?
How can creative sustainability motivate people to participate with fun and joy.
The event is the prelude to an artistic intervention on the farmland between the university and Christopherus-Hof, with a duration until summer 2027. Together, we will explore the history of the clay pit and the urban agricultural park and create a truly nourishing work of art. Die Lehrveranstaltung findet im Rahmen des Verbundprojektes ""Feldversuch"" (Universität Witten/Herdecke, Hochschulwerk und Entwicklungsgesellschaft für ganzheitliche Bildung Annener Berg e.V.) statt. Die Entwicklungesgesellschaft (EG) betreibt in Witten seit 2017 in zunehmendem Umfang bio-organische Landwirtschaft, auf derzeit ca. 10 ha städtischen Grünflächen Landschaftspflege mit einer Coburger Fuchsschaf-Herde (alte Haustierrasse), außerdem hat sie den Landwirtschaftspark ""Gärten für die Gemeinschaft"" in unmittelbarer Nähe der Universität als differenzierte Biotopelandschaft entwickelt, gefördert durch die Europäische Union und das Land NRW.
Die EG hat ein wachsendes Netzwerk an Partnern in Bildung, Forschung, Gesellschaft zu den Bereichen Nachhaltigkeit und Transformation. Für diese Veranstaltungen konnten die Partner:innen der Hochule Bochum (Umwelttechnik, insbesondere Kreislaufwirtschaft und Ressourcenmanagement sowie Thermodynamik) und des Tiny-Farms-Teams (Landwirtschaft nach menschlichem Maß mit entwickletem Anbau-, Vermarktungs- und Ausbildungssystem) hinzugewonnen werden.
