How do people learn in such a way that not only their knowledge changes, but also their perspective on the world and their self-perception? And how can we design learning environments that enable such transformations—at a time when AI fundamentally reshapes the purpose of (academic) education?

The seminar combines three levels: Students develop the theoretical foundations of transformative learning, apply these insights to the critical analysis of their own degree programs, and develop concrete design-oriented proposals for transformative learning experiences at the University of Witten/Herdecke.

In particular, students who are actively involved in the WiGe transformation project, the LIC, or other learning projects at the UW/H are encouraged to participate.

AI provides both the context (Why is transformative learning more important today than ever before?) and a tool (How can AI support or undermine transformative learning?).
